Character of terrain and stream: Shirakawago is covered with pine forests and many streams are carved in it. The stream flowing from the Yakota Mountain System has a gradient, and the Shimonoseki Peninsula has a fine stream carved into the hills with a small incline.
What you need to know.: In the world heritage area of Shirakawago, development and logging of standing trees are regulated. There are procedures for entering the core area. The snowfall is high, and the water volume of the stream increases greatly in the snowmelt period in the spring.
